A Prayer For Animals.

Post by Vanilla2 on September 17th 2009, 2:13 pm

A PRAYER FOR ANIMALS

Hear our humble prayer, O God, for our friends the animals, especially for animals who are suffering; for animals that are overworked, underfed and cruelly treated; for all wistful creatures in captivity that beat their wings against bars; for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry; for all that must be put to death. We entreat for them all Thy mercy and pity, and for those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and kindly words. Make us, ourselves, to be true friends to animals and so to share the blessings of the merciful.

Dear Vanilla2, it has touched me to see someone take the time out to offer such a heart felt prayer for the animals.
Your words will go out into the heavens and will surely not return empty handed.
The reason it touches me so is because I share the same love and connection with animals and all of nature.
In fact, I don’t see us and them at all, I see only “LIFE”. I see life as one entity, evolving physically and spiritually into something so magnificent that we can’t even imagine it.
I would like to add to you prayer my hopes and wishes that humans may come to understand how significant the little acts of kindness and compassion we can do for nature really are.
God can work thru us to answer your prayers in ways like:

Volunteer at wildlife rehabilitation centers or horse retirement farms.
Dedicate parts of your yard to natural brush and meadow growth as needed habitat for wildlife that is shrinking daily.
Buy bird food and feed the birds because we have taking up most of their natural sources of food. Especially in the winter.
Plant bushes and plants conducive to all wildlife instead of simply for their beauty.
Remove dead animals from the middle of the road when convenient to avoid crows and other animals from getting killed while eating.
Be slow to have your pets euthanized (I could share great stories on why)
Don’t use poisons in your yard to kill weeds or to kill insects.
Be slow to chop down trees and realize that all life, all things, are divine and alive.
Consider being vegetarian or at least buy farm raised meats or cut back.
Catch and release bugs from your house. Don’t kill them.
Fill cavities and openings in your yard before “bee” season to avoid having to make a future hard decision of removing and killing a nest.
Feed your left over meats and scraps to wildlife. If you don’t want them in your yard, find an open area or field that crows can spot from above. Last winter, I brought scraps to work each morning and was met by a grateful family of crows each and every day. How cool!

I’m sure this list could go on and on and I would love to have others add to it. I do all of these things mentioned and the personal rewards are immense not to mention the positive effect they all have on the future for our animals, nature, ourselves and our children.

Peace and Blessings,
WhiteShaman

Dear Lord, I ask that You protect all animals from abuse and neglect. Please guide people to be kind and caring to animals. Don't let us abandon them! Help us to protect their habitat. May all animals have enough safe food to eat and clean water to drink. Help people to understand animal needs better. Thank you Lord. I pray this in Jesus' name, amen.

Those are very wise words White-Shaman.

I see myself already doing many of those things, but I could be doing more.

I would like to share these photos of my quiet piece of haven, my back garden, I am surrounded by many trees, bird-feeders and water, fields over to the back, with the odd wild-life visitor, fox, pheasant, I once saw a deer, they bring cows, two or three will have calves Jan/Feb, I love to look out from my kitchen window looking at the birds at their feeders, or sit in the garden watching them, so quiet and calm. Hi Vanilla,
Wow! what a great natural looking yard! How fortunate the animals in your area are. The deer must have sensed your kindness and trust and felt safe coming there with its precious young.
We once had a fox that stayed around for 2 months in our yard and would sit mere feet away from us! What a blessing!
